Insectopia

Dans une volonté sans cesse grandissante de favoriser la biodiversité dans les espaces urbains, les villes installent de plus en plus d'hôtels à insectes, de petites constructions en bois servant de nichoirs. La mairie du 13 eme arrondissement nous a demandé dans cette logique de dessiner un hôtel à insectes.

Nous avons souhaité que cet objet soit évocateur, qu'il provoque une émotion. Nous voulons parler de ce petit univers invisible mais sans cesse en mouvement. Il s'agit de faire travailler l'imaginaire des passants, d'éveiller la curiosité par un objet spectaculaire et remarquable. Nous avons pensé "Insectopia" comme une ville pour les insectes où différentes espèces cohabitent. C'est une accumulation de petites maisons en châtaigner qui génère une esthétique propre à faire travailler l'imagination.

In a growing desire to favor biodiversity in urban spaces, cities install more and more hotels for insects in the form small wood constructions that serve as breeding ground. Bearing this in mind, the Town Hall of the 13th Arrondissement of Paris asked us to design a hotel for insects.

We wanted this objet to be reminiscent and to evoke emotion. We want to bring to light this minuscule and invisible universe in constant movement. Our aim is to give passersby's imagination a chance to work, to awaken curiosity with a spectacular and noticeable object. We thought "Insectopia" as a city for insects where different species cohabit. It is an accumulation of small chestnut houses that generate an aesthetic prone to put imagination to work.
